Formatting Guidelines - Thesis and Dissertation Guide

The dissertation is usually about your own research, not a given question/topic, and therefore the structure includes chapters such as ‘Research Methodology’, ‘Findings’, and ‘Discussion of Findings’. The structure of the dissertation is discussed in section 7.


If you use symbols in your thesis or dissertation, you may combine them with your abbreviations, titling the section 8775 LIST OF ABBREVIATIONS AND SYMBOLS 8776 , or you may set up a separate list of symbols and their definitions by following the formatting instructions above for abbreviations. The heading you choose must be in all capital letters and centered 6&Prime below the top of the page.

After a brief opening, I will look more closely at different dimensions of lexical correspondences between languages and explain how these can affect the acquisition of lexis.
